It Can't Get any Better than This!

The first five days in Bemerhaven have been absolutely amazing.  I am staying with the one of the nicest couples I have ever met, Konrad and Ingrid Weiker.  They are a couple that lives in the village of Bad Bedekesa, about 20 minutes away from the city.

This week I have enjoyed many activities thanks to the Weikers, such as touring a restored castle, walking around a beautiful park and lake area, and visiting a local high school, called a Gymnasium.  Last night, the Weikers arranged for the current headmaster of the local high school and the retired headmaster of a high school in Bremerhaven to stop by for dinner.

We had great discussions about our school systems and how we are dealing with the current problems we are all facing concerning educating the young children in our countries.  Today, I was able to visit the NIG, a local boarding school\public  school in Bad Berdekesa.  The experience was amazing.  I was able to observe English classes of 5th and 10th graders today and then to tour the school grounds.  I will have pictures posted very soon!

Tonight, the team had our final dinner with our host families on the ship Suete Dern "Sweet Lady" in the downtown harbor.  Tomorrow we have our final presentation to the rotary club and then we are off to Wilemshaven.
Hello to all at home.  We miss you all a lot and wish ýou were all able to share with us in these amazing experiences.
